Supreme Court Talks Littering
Littering does not count as a sufficient reason to pull over a drunk-driving suspect, according to a La Crosse judge and a Wisconsin appeals court. But the state Supreme Court has agreed to make the final decision on that matter. The justices could rule later this year on the appeal of driver Daniel Iverson. He was stopped on Rose Street in La Crosse, after the state trooper following his Jeep saw him toss a cigarette butt. The lower courts backed Iverson’s argument that he couldn’t be pulled over for littering because it isn’t a traffic violation.
