Locals To Appear On Sunday PBS Show
A program on PBS this Sunday, Caring for Mom & Dad, starts out with a fact that actress Meryl Streep addresses . The hour long film depicts the lives of eight people and their families through stories and presents some of the most pressing issues facing caregivers. Three of those lives from right here in La Crosse. Dr. Bud Hammes, creator of Respecting Choices was one of them.
Mary Ellen McCartney, Gundersen Health System chief learning officer and LHI founder, Don Weber were also interviewed and will be in the show. Eight families welcomed the filmmakers into their lives. These are intimate portraits of struggling caregivers. The film also captures how families cope with the financial burdens brought on by this often unanticipated responsibility.
