Any State Help For Bird Flu?

Since April 13th, the avian bird virus has been found on 10 Wisconsin farms

including Juneau county, bringing the total number of chickens and turkeys affected by the disease to nearly 1.8 million. Not much help coming farmers ways though. Unlike in Minnesota where the state government is providing financial relief for farmers.

 

We asked Democratic lawmaker, Steve Doyle if anything’s coming out of Madison.

The highly lethal avian flu is in the midst of wiping out around 18 million egg-laying hens in Iowa and nearly 1.6 million more in Minnesota. Meanwhile, the bird flu was reported at two more Minnesota turkey farms, bringing the total to 84 poultry flocks. About 5.6 million Minnesota birds, mostly turkeys, have been or will be wiped out by the virus.
