County Boat Patrols To Begin
La Crosse County is getting ready to launch its boat patrol for another summer. This year, county officers are planning to cover more areas on the water than before, according to Sheriff Steve Helgeson. That’s because the city of La Crosse now has its own patrol boat.
Helgeson says before the city got into the act, it was tough for the boat patrol to respond to calls north of La Crosse, because the officers might have to answer another call before getting to a distant location.
