Does The Vision Help Transportation?
A new Transportation Vision in La Crosse will not insure an end to traffic congestion.
In fact, the vision plan that the La Crosse city council votes on tonight accepts that some traffic congestion will continue. But it also points to traffic solutions in the future that calls for narrower streets, bike lanes and the use of roundabouts. And there’s plenty who have heard the ideas that don’t like any of it
Charley Weeth is the president of Livable Neighborhoods in La Crosse. He likes the Transportation Vision because it seems to be a sustainable plan for dealing with traffic increases in the future. Much better, in his mind, than the DOT pushing for more and wider traffic lanes.
