Family Care Budget Item Scrapped?
Governor Scott Walker’s proposal to disassemble and then rebuild Wisconsin’s
long term care system may be going no where. According to votes taken Thursday by the joint finance committee, lawmakers may be walking away from the governor’s idea. Good thing says democrat Steve Doyle, who says the program needs to be left alone.
The state’s Family Care program is set to expand statewide, with all counties required to participate by January 1st, 2017. Walker’s proposal would allow the Department of Health Services to cease operation of other long term care programs or waivers, including IRIS…..a program for self directed long term care. And that would hurt says Doyle.
