La Crosse TIF District to Retire
Doesn’t happen very often. One of La Crosse’s sometimes controversial TIF loan districts will be retired this summer, according to documents just released by the city. The so-called airport TIF was put in place nearly 30 years ago to fund improvements to the airport and build the next door industrial park. All of the tax revenue from that special district will now go to benefit taxpayers, says city council finance committee chair, Audrey Kader
Kader says property taxpayers should see some positive impact from the retiring TIF on next year’s tax bills. But the economic impact from the district will continue long after that.
