Advocacy Group Focuses on Fixed Charge

A Wisconsin advocacy group will certainly intervene in the latest rate hike request made by Xcel energy. But the higher rates for electricity and natural gas will be less of a concern for the state’s Citizens Utility Board than Xcel’s request for a higher fixed charge for customers. Kira Loehr heads the Citizens Utility Board she says that flat charge gives low income customers less control over their energy bills. Xcel says it wants to raise the fixed charge from the current eight dollars to help pay for infrastructure to bring electricity to your home.
