Local High Schools Prep for State Track Meet

The WIAA State Track and Field meet takes place this Friday and Saturday and the Holmen High School will be busy. The Vikings have athletes participating in 12 different events in the Division One portion of the meet, which is held at UW-La Crosse’s Veterans Memorial Sports Complex. Leading the way for Holmen is Danielle Kohlwey, who will compete in both hurdles events and the long jump. At state last year, she came away with a second- and third-place finish in the hurdles races.
 
For the third consecutive year, Logan High School’s Aric Elmore is headed to the WIAA State Track and Field Meet. This Friday and Saturday at UW-La Crosse’s Veterans Memorial Sports Complex, Elmore will compete in the long jump and triple jump. Last year, he placed fourth and ninth in those events, respectively. Heading into his final state meet, the senior has the third-best qualifying marks in both jumps.
