Parking Agreement is Key to New Development

A major student housing development in La Crosse hinges on parking. The city council will have to approve an exemption for the development from rules regarding the number of mandated parking spots for multi-family housing. But the five story Aguilera complex planned for 13th and Badger streets is likely worth that exemption, says interim city planner Amy Peterson who says the concept is good for the city and will draw students into quality housing around UWL

Peterson has recommended recommended issuing demolition permits for the project. The city council is likely to consider final approval of the project next month with the goal of having it finished by September of next year.
