Questions Remain on Fate of Prevailing Wage

Repeal it. Reform it. Hard to say exactly what will happen with Wisconsin’s prevailing wage laws now in Madison. Republican lawmakers seem to be divided on the future of the law that mandates pay minimums for labor on public works projects. Leave it alone would be the preference of James Hoffman, owner of Hoffman Construction in Black River Falls. He’s testified against changes to prevailing wage, warning of the dangers of repeal and warns of shoddy workmanship on public construction projects if prevailing wage is repealed.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

An assembly committee last week voted to repeal prevailing wage, but republican leaders in Madison say they only have votes to attempt some reforms to the suddenly contentious law.
