Former Heileman Owner Dies

The former owner of La Crosse’s Heileman Brewing Company has died. Alan Bond died early today at the age of 77. Bond was an Australian man who accumulated great wealth through a variety of business interests, but who ended up spending time in prison for a series of corporate crimes in what at the time was Australia’s biggest ever corporate fraud. He ran Bond Holdings company which operated what is now the City Brewery when it was still a national player in the brewing industry. Bond died following complications from open heart surgery.
