Mayor: Rail Disaster Training Needed in La Crosse
La Crosse County First Responders, members of the city of La Crosse, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway and other state emergency officials have gathered in Onalaska for a two day conference on train derailments.
La Crosse Mayor, Tim Kabat says training of this magnitude is needed in La Crosse……labeled a high risk area for a train derailment.
One training exercise focused on an area of the city that presents some problems, the tracks just south of the Mormon Coulee overpass. Day one prepared local agencies to respond to a rail emergency situation and day two will focus on recovery.
