Hearing Scheduled for New CP Line in La Crosse

A public hearing in La Crosse city hall this week for another proposed rail expansion in the city.  Thursday afternoon’s hearing will focus on the petition by Canadian Pacific to add less than a mile of tracks around the Amtrak station on the northside.  The company calls the new tracks a re-installation, essentially replacing tracks that used to be in place just south of the two sets currently in place through the stretch that includes the Liberty/St Cloud and Avon/Hagar crossings.  Canadian Pacific says the new tracks will add to its overall network capacity and plans to reimburse the city for work to maintain safety at the two crossing affected.
