New Rule Restricts City Hunting Bans
Part of a budget bill for the Wisconsin DNR would also keep cities from banning bow hunting within city limits.
The measure is buried in between one that gets rid of class B bear licenses and another that creates a funding source for a marsh education center. it prohibits city ordinances that ban hunting with a bow or a crossbow. While many cities will be affected, La Crosse is not. Hunting is allowed on the hundreds of acres of lands annexed into the city that were originally acquired by the MVC. Limited bow hunting is also allowed within the La Crosse River marsh.
