Wisconsin Planning for Expected Return of Bird Flu

In Wisconsin, the state ag department is taking a pretty easy going approach to the summer season in dealing with this year’s avian flu outbreak.  But winter’s coming.  And so, they expect, will the flu.  Back to possibly take another shot at poultry farms and factories.  Wasn’t bad in Wisconsin this spring, says state vet, Paul McGraw; just 10 farms affected out of a possible 19 thousand.  McGraw acknowledges that, while Minnesota had most of the nation’s flu oubreak cases during the spring’s northward wild bird migration, it could be Wisconsin’s turn when migratory birds start to head south in the fall.
