Who knew La Crosse was on the cutting edge? Milwaukee became just the latest city in the state to decriminalize small amounts of pot possession this month. La Crosse made a similar move four years ago. Which is exactly the direction the state should be going, says Molly Collins with the Wisconsin ACLU. She says, after 40 years of a failed drug war, it’s time to take a different approach. Milwaukee’s new law decriminalizes all pot possession under 25 grams. In La Crosse, police only have the option to write a ticket instead of arresting someone possessing pot and the amount is signigicantly lower; just 7 grams.
