Couch Porch Debate Returns

Couches on porches again the focus of likely debate by the La Crosse city council tonight. A council committee considers a proposal to keep indoor upholstered furniture from being placed on porches, decks and balconies, along with other, similar structures. The council considered the same proposal last month but tabled it after several council members claimed the planned ordinance just didn’t make any sense as written. The fire department says the ordinance is necessary as a fire prevention measure.
