The plan to hire an art coordinator for the new La Crosse County administrative building has made it through one committee. The downtown campus planning committee is endorsing the idea of setting aside 10-thousand dollars a year in the county budget to pay an art manager, and to acquire art works to be displayed in what is now the Associated Bank. Vicki Burke served on the study committee that recommended the coordinator idea, suggesting that if art is displayed in the building, somebody will have to be put in charge of it.

Two members of the planning committee voted against the idea out of concern that the county is already spending too much money on the office building project.
