Garbage hauler calls for ban on citizen landfill use

Users of the La Crosse County landfill have been complaining about heavy traffic at the Highway 16 site. One garbage hauler has suggested thinning out the traffic by stopping citizen use of the landfill. Now, a county board committee is being asked to consider setting up a separate drop-off site for public trash disposal. The county says about 13-thousand private citizens use the landfill in a year, which is six times the number who used it only seven years ago. Fees from citizen use could bring in about 200-thousand dollars for the county this year.
