Troopers alone in line for pay raise
A bill that would give state troopers a 6% raise in exchange for higher health insurance premiums was approved this morning by the state senate. Another bill on the Senate agenda would set up a new 2 year compensation plan for about 31 thousand other state employees. On the floor, Democrat Fred Risser explained his no vote by reminding colleagues that none of the other 60 thousand state employees were getting raises.
That plan contains no general wage increases. Most state workers got 1 percent raises in both 2013 and 2014. It was approved 19-14.
