Grant to tackle child homelessness
The La Crosse Family and Children’s Center is getting a grant to key in on a problem that effects about 108 children in the area.
Sheila Garrity with the La Crosse Community Foundation says quite a few entities in the area and agree that child homelessness is a problem in the La Crosse area. Too many don’t have a place to call home and spend much of their lives, couch surfing.
The foundation is issuing a start-up grant of $70 thousand to
Family and Children’s Center for the first year of programming with support from the Foundation’s Johns Flaherty Collins-Michael Stoker Fund, for housing and homeless issues.
