Arcadia mayor says sand mine rumors false

Arcadia already has one operational frac sand mine. Rumors of three more proposals going to the city council are simply false says Mayor John Kimmel. He tells us he heard the rumors shortly after they appeared in a local newspaper.

 

 

It was rumored that the requests would require the council to drop its moratorium on sand mines and annex over 1500 acres from the Town of Arcadia plus develop a new sand mine zoning ordinance. 

 

 Kimmel says if folks have questions or concerns of more mines being proposed or brought to the city’s attention, they are being very transparent in the entire process. Kimmel invites people to go to the city’s website and see for themselves. In the meantime, a moratorium on new mines goes until mid-September.
