DNR says endangered reptiles will die

They might kill a few snakes and turtles, but crews rebuilding a power line in western Wisconsin won’t destroy the reptiles.  The DNR says the rare wood turtle and massasagua rattlesnake will take a hit when Dairyland power rebuilds the line in Trempealeau and La Crosse counties.  It’s between the Marshland Substation in Trempealeau County and the Briggs Road Substation in La Crosse County.  Old and decrepit and in need of repair, apparently.  The rattlesnake is listed as endangered and the turtle is listed as threatened.  The DNR says the population of neither species will suffer lasting damage.
