Voters approve Caledonia pool
A big vote proved to be positive for many in Caledonia Thursday. Voters there approved spending up to $1 million for a new municipal swimming pool. The margin of victory was just 19 votes.
According to city leaders who will meet in special Monday night, plans are to construct a new pool at the site of the old pool. A failed referendum earlier this year was for $1.6 million but that was lowered when some of the plans were eliminated. The approved plan also calls for updates to the restroom areas and bath house.
The vote came after a similar referendum was turned down by a wide margin by the voters last January.
