Irishfest comes with sheep herding, golf cart transport
Over the last decade, La Crosse’s Irish population has set aside a weekend in August for celebrating the Gaelic heritage. That happens again in a couple of weeks, when Irishfest returns to the southside festgrounds. There will be music and dancing, an Irish comedian, and Irish food and drink. And along with the usual sheep-shearing, fest president Pat Stephens this year promises a demonstration of sheep herding.
The pre-Irishfest activities begin tonight with a special Irish trivia contest at Dublin Square on Main Street. The actual three-day festival opens on Friday, August 7th. The fest will provide golf cart rides in order to deal with ongoing road construction around the festgrounds.
