Report: Nursing needs more diversity
Western Wisconsin has the lowest number of nurses relative to the rest of the population. That’s the conclusion from a new state nurse survey. The annual survey finds that, in the western part of the state, there are seven nurses per thousand people. In northern Wisconsin, the ratio is 15 nurses per thousand people. The survey also finds that the nursing population is nowhere near as diverse as the rest of the population. 95% of nurses are white, according to the survey.
