King still missing
Vandalized statue still being repaired, culprits still at large
King Gambrinus is still missing.
The iconic La Crosse statue that decorated the front of City Brewery since 1939 hasn’t returned since being hauled away for repairs or maybe a complete replacement.
The 15-foot-tall statue was damaged back in March when three guys walking next to the brewery around bar time managed to break off Gambrinus’ sword arm while climbing on it.
Surveillance video captured the whole affair.
Despite the reasonably clear images in the video that La Crosse police put on Facebook (here), no suspects have been identified, and police say they only have one tip, which was right after the video was posted.
