Local Boy Scout council welcomes vote on gay leaders
Gateway Area Council executive receiving vastly positive feedback
La Crosse’s Boyscout organization is encouraged by news to allow openly gay leaders.
Gateway Area Council Executive, Sean Henneman, calls the decision a welcome one for inclusion and will help with recruitment, donations and access to school facilities.
It’s overwhelmingly a positive response locally, from the vote by the Boy Scouts of America Board of Directors in making the change this week.
Henneman says the vast majority of those he’s had contact with support the decision, which still allows for local units to reject gay leaders based on religious principles.
