Police chaplain tackling scrutiny
La Crosse’s Clements job becoming more complex
Recently, a police chaplain’s job has become much more complex.
“Job” may not be the most accurate way to put it, because guys like La Crosse police chaplain, Mark Clements, volunteer their time to work officers on the street.
Officers whose jobs have become significantly more challenging and subject to scrutiny over the last six months.
Even before that, says Clements, going back a dozen or so years, diminishing resources and increased responsibilities have been difficult, even for the best officers.
Clements, just sworn in as the 21st President of the International Conference of Police Chaplains, says one of his greatest responsibilities recently, is to assure officers that they’re still doing excellent work despite national professional criticism.
Since 2001, Chaplain Clements has served as Head Chaplain of the La Crosse Area Law Enforcement Chaplaincy.
