La Crosse saw a five-percent increase

ONALASKA, Wis. – Out of state travelers added more than $18 billion to Wisconsin’s economy in 2014.

That’s an increase of 5.5 percent from 2013. La Crosse was just under that, at five percent.

Numbers that Secretary of Tourism, Stephanie Klett, reminded people of Wednesday as she introduced Wisconsin’s First Lady, Tonette Walker to the area.

Walker, here to promote tourism – and health – in an event called “Walk with Walker,” was given a hearty introduction from Klett in Onalaska, Wis.

About a dozen people participated in the “walk” down the river trail, as Klett and Walker talked about things that bring in tourism, like Onalaska’s trail system and plans for expansion.
