Record honored for arts patronage

The former general manager of this radio station is being honored for supporting the arts. This weekend, the ‘Ashley for the Arts’ festival in Arcadia will honor Midwest Family’s Dick Record for supporting regional artists over the years. Record is the first recipient of Ashley’s ‘Patron of the Arts’ award, which will be presented tomorrow night before the Frankie Valli concert at Arcadia’s Memorial Park. Record came to La Crosse in the early 70’s to run WIZM Radio. Under his management, Midwest Family’s presence in La Crosse has grown to include four FM radio stations and two AM’s.

 

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
