Queen follows Queen at La Crosse’s Riverside Park
Two days, two giant riverboats docking in La Crosse. It was the Queen of the Mississippi on Thursday. The American Queen today.
From the La Crosse Historical Society, George Italiano is there as always, in late 19th century period dress, greeting passengers as they get off the giant paddle wheeler. Italiano says he loves the experience and passengers always seem to love taking pictures of his costume as well as others who get dressed up to greet the travelers.
The American Queen, from Memphis, is known as the largest steamboat ever built. She’s over 400 feet long and nearly 90 feet wide. Next stop: St. Paul.
