Parents grateful VA owned mistakes in son’s death
The parents of a veteran who died last year at the Tomah VA are grateful that the hospital has owned up to mistakes in their son’s care. Jason Simcakoski died from a combination of drugs prescribed for him by doctors. Jason’s father, Marv Simcakoski, says his family would not want the hospital to shut down. An investigation says Jason had taken more than 50 doses of drugs in the 72 hours before he died. The interim director at Tomah, John Rohrer, says improvements in procedures at Tomah are scheduled to be completed by January.
