Water expert concerned sludge spill in Colorado could happen on Mississippi
A massive waste water spill in Colorado that has turned a river orange has local river experts worrying whether that could happen to the Mississippi, or other waters around La Crosse. UW La Crosse biology professor Roger Haro has big concerns about how that spill happened, as the government was inspecting a gold mine. Haro is preparing to host river specialists from around the world at a symposium in La Crosse later this month. The conference at the La Crosse Center follows similar international meetings in China in 2013, and in Berlin four years ago.
