A government fund to preserve America’s natural resources will get special attention today, when an Obama cabinet member comes to La Crosse.  Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell is expected to observe the 50th anniversary of the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

La Crosse Congressman Ron Kind says the fund, generally financed through revenue from oil and natural gas sales, has done much good over the years.  He says it’s money that’s been reinvested in natural resources just like the upper Mississippi.

Kind and Jewell will spend about two hours touring parts of the Mississippi Valley wildlife refuge by boat.
