A resolution on a conflict between the city of La Crosse and the DOT will only last so long. On Thursday, the city council votes against funding a redesign study for the DOT’s plans for the Rose Street entrance into the city. Though council member Bob Seaquist says it’s dumb to allow the DOT to move ahead how they want on the project. He says the agency doesn’t care about economic viability of La Crosse or the health of its neighborhoods, only about moving cars in and out of the city as quickly as possible.
The city may make a stronger statement on the issue next month when the council is asked to vote on rejecting the Rose Street plan from the DOT altogether.
