Capital improvements being finalized
So far, spending down to $8 million
There are changes still possible on a final spending plan on equipment and infrastructure for the city of La Crosse in the coming year.
The final draft of a capital improvements budget gets the once over by the City Plan Commission at a meeting scheduled for later today.
Tens of millions of dollars in requests from budget department heads have been whittled down to meet an $8-million cap in new bonding.
Among the items in the final version: the new, half-million-dollar heavy rescue truck requested by the fire department.
Not making the cut for next year: the $60,000 for a new desk at the city’s south branch library.
The full council will have to approve the spending plan.
