Sculpture at Viterbo dedicated this evening
Commissioned by Record, dedicated to orchestra
A sculpture commissioned by longtime former general manager of Midwest Family Broadcasting, Dick Record will be dedicated today on Viterbo University’s campus.
The sculpture, by local artist Elmer Petersen, is in place at Viterbo and is meant to honor the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra and its 115-year-old history.
It’s made of pieces of white and colored glass and meant to be a physical representation of Beethoven’s ‘Ode to Joy.’ The dedication is meant to kick off the symphony’s endowment campaign.
Record has long been a patron of the symphony. Petersen has many other works in the area, including the La Crosse Players statue in front of the Radisson and the Eagle statue in Riverside Park.
