Record honors orchestra with art

‘Symphonic Joy’ donation by Midwest Family manager dedicated at Viterbo

The sculpture has been in place for a while, but now it has been dedicated officially.

A glass sculpture on the Viterbo University campus called ‘Symphonic Joy’ honors the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra, which performs at the university. Longtime Midwest Family Broadcasting manager, Dick Record, donated the Elmer Petersen artwork to Viterbo.

The sculpture is located just north of the Fine Arts Center lobby. The dedication ceremony was driven indoors by persistent rain Wednesday, but the sun broke through the clouds toward the end of the event.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
