Randall accused of shooting Central High student Friday
It was La Crosse’s first case of deliberate murder in more than two years, according to police.
A 17-year-old Central high school student was shot and killed Friday, and the shooting suspect is in jail, waiting to appear before a judge at 1:30 p.m. today.
Eighteen-year-old Deshawn Randall gave himself up late Friday night, after police surrounded an apartment house on Denton St. Right after the arrest, police Lt. Pat Hogan told reporters that officers weren’t sure that Randall was in the building.
Randall is accused of shooting George Miller, who was riding in a car on Redfield St. Randall then fired more shots at Miller while chasing him on foot.
Randall is one of 25 scheduled to make a first appearance in La Crosse County court today, after weekend arrests. Others scheduled to stand before Judge Scott Horne include a 7-time drunk driving suspect and a 38-year-old man facing two charges of sexual assault of a child.
