Land near Lakeview in West Salem

WEST SALEM, Wis. – La Crosse County is taking another step forward to promote alternative energy sources. 

Thursday, the county board approved a request for Xcel Energy to lease land near the Lakeview Care Center for a solar energy farm. Lakeview could use energy produced at the solar farm to help power its West Salem, Wis., facility.

Combined with energy projects involving the county landfill and Gundersen Health Systems, county administrator Steve O’Malley says this area is becoming an energy pioneer.
