“We will never forget”

Painting honors veteran who died at Tomah VA

The message is a simple one: “We will never forget.” 

It can now be seen on a painting being displayed at the Tomah VA medical center, created in honor of a veteran who died from being prescribed too many drugs by doctors.  

Jason Simcakoski died in August 2015, and a hospital housekeeper who knew him made the painting, which also features an eagle and the American flag. 

Simcakoski’s parents were among the guests who attended the unveiling at the Tomah VA on Sunday.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
