Cops cracking down through Labor Day

Drinking and driving isn’t smart, isn’t safe, and if that’s not motivation enough, police are stepping up the patrols through Labor Day weekend, thanks to grants.

The “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign started Aug. 15 and continues through Labor Day, thanks to grants from the Wisconsin Dept. of Transportation.

“Although we’re making progress in preventing drunken driving, too many people are still being killed or injured because of the irresponsible decision to drive while impaired,” Chief Ron Tischer of the La Crosse Police Department said.

Captain Mike Horstsman from the La Crosse County Sheriff’s department explains that, especially during a busy holiday weekend, these grants needed and appreciated.

For questions, please contact La Crosse Police Department Sergeant, Randy Rank (608.789.7206) or Captain Horstman (608.785.6197). If interested in a ride along with the sheriff’s department, contact Captain Horstman.
