Wisconsin
Midwest has best ACT scores in nation
Achievement gap needs to be worked out, says local expert
Minnesota’s average ACT score for 2015 was 22.7 – best in the country. Wisconsin and Iowa 2015 graduates tied for second in the ACT rankings at 22.1.
And schools in the area all scored better than that.
Of course, that’s great news, La Crosse School District’s new director of curriculum, instruction and assessment, Michael Lichucki said, but now it’s time to work on the achievement gap that brings some scores down.
Since Wisconsin stays near the top year after year, Lichucki was asked if he feels that will remain.
Beginning last year, all juniors were required to take the ACT exam. Districts and the Wisconsin Dept. of Public Instruction are already preparing for the numbers to drop.
Results for last year’s juniors are expected to be released in fall.
