Report shows students who’ve used drugs at risk of disorder
Group surveyed 3,000 Wisconsin students
A report released Tuesday shows that one in two students who have experimented with addictive substances are at risk of developing a substance use disorder.
The report, from the Wisconsin group Rise Together, is the result of survey data collected from nearly 3,000 middle and high school students in the state during the 2014-15 school year.
Anthony Alvarado, co-founder of the group, is urging Wisconsin schools to train student services staff in an early substance use prevention program for the upcoming school year.
Last year, Rise Together went to 70 schools in 27 different districts.
