Support urged for exit 3 as vote to reject looms

City council votes on DOT’s plan next week

Hard to complain too much about the plans the DOT has for reconstruction of the Rose St. entrance into the La Crosse. At least that’s how it seems to North La Crosse Business Association president, Nick Roush.  

The new plans offer wonderful new amenities like a new parkway, a new eagle viewing platform, along with “pedestrian, bicycle and traffic access that is an enormous improvement over what exists today,” Roush said.

He also understands that what the DOT has planned for the street is not perfect, but it’s still pretty good balance between meeting the needs of businesses and neighborhoods on the northside along with the safety design requirements for the roadway, Rousch added.

Roush spoke during a special DOT presentation Tuesday night in city hall regarding the agency’s I-90 exit 3 plans. Next week, the full city council votes on whether to reject the DOT’s entire plan.  A vote that would reverse a decision made by the council three years ago.
