Holiday travel: Use caution through I-90 bridge construction

DOT will halt work, but expects congestion

The reconstruction of I-90 at La Crosse is among the top bottlenecks on the road you can expect during this Labor Day weekend. 

The Wisconsin DOT says the exit 3-interchange project, along with Mississippi bridge construction on the interstate, has a strong possibility of snarling traffic over the weekend despite work getting put on hold for the holiday.

The DOT says, while no construction will be underway for the weekend, orange barrels and cones will still be in place, so the agency is urging drivers to take it slow in those areas. 

The heaviest times for traffic this weekend are expected to be between noon and 8 today and Monday.
