Multiple towns declare state of emergency in Wisconsin

Storms cause flooding, ruining Labor Day weekend

A line of strong storms moved across Wisconsin early Monday morning, making Labor Day a not to happy holiday for some.

These Wisconsin towns have declared a state of emergency: Strum, Seif, South Foster, Garfield, Cleveland, Osseo and Eleva.

Near Strum, the Buffalo River downstream is high due to increasing flow at the dam there, which was covered by water. The condition of the dam won’t be known until the water recedes, but it appears stable and there are no evacuations. 

In Mondovi, fire and law enforcement directly contacted residents to notify them of possible flash flood conditions from County Rd. KK on Hwy. 37 to Hwy. 10 to the eastern Buffalo County line.

In Clark County, Butler Rd. in Rock Dam is closed due to undermining of the road at the bridge below the dam.

In Cleveland, eight inches of rain fell Sunday night into Monday morning. Flood waters overtook a dead end road stranding three residents until sometime this morning.

One home and business in Eleva suffered major damage, as well.
