‘Teacher of year’ award to help Holmen recruit

King’s honor could draw outside talent to district

The Holmen School District just got a great recruiting tool for new teachers. That tool: a ‘teacher of the year’ award for one of its veteran faculty members. 

Agriculture instructor Roger King has been named Wisconsin’s High School Teacher of the Year and is now in the running for national honors. 

Holmen Superintendent Kris Mueller believes King’s honor will draw other good teachers to the district. 

Mueller says recognition of a Holmen teacher as the best in the state reflects the high standards that the district has for hiring classroom talent.

A native of Prairie du Chien, Brad graduated from UW - La Crosse and has worked in radio news for more than 30 years, mostly in the La Crosse area. He regularly covers local courts and city and county government. Brad produces the features "Yesterday in La Crosse" and "What's Buried on Brad's Desk." He also writes the website "Triviazoids," which finds odd connections between events that happen on a certain date, and he writes and performs with the local comedy group Heart of La Crosse. Brad been featured on several national TV programs because of his memory skills.
